What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is a personalized, therapeutic approach that uses yogic tools to support health and healing. While yoga therapy can address many areas of wellbeing, my specialty is mental and emotional health – working with patterns such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, emotional numbness, and deeply rooted self-worth challenges.
Rather than relying solely on talk-based approaches, my work uses a body-first (bottom-up) strategy that supports the nervous system directly. Many emotional and psychological symptoms are not the result of a lack of insight, but of a body that has learned to stay on high alert—or to shut down altogether. Through specific movements, breathwork, sound, and meditation, we help the body register safety. When the body feels safe, the mind naturally follows, without forcing change through willpower or positive thinking.
A central focus of my work is Inner Child healing, rooted in psychodynamic understanding. This means we gently explore how early life experiences, often held outside of conscious awareness, continue to shape emotional responses, relationships, self-esteem, and coping patterns today. Rather than managing symptoms alone, this work aims to bring compassion and awareness to the deeper roots of struggle, allowing for more lasting emotional and relational change.
The practices I use draw from a precise yogic applied science and may include:
- Structured movement sequences to release stored stress and emotional residue
- Breathwork to regulate mood and nervous system states
- Mantra and sound to support emotional coherence and self-regulation
- Meditation practices that help re-pattern unconscious responses and restore a felt sense of wholeness
I also have advanced training in the yogic applications for addictive and compulsive patterns – not only substance-related, but the more subtle “mental addictions” many people live with: chronic self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, emotional dependency, or the belief that worth must be earned. This work supports clients in interrupting these cycles and cultivating a more stable, compassionate relationship with themselves.
I work privately with clients over a series of one-on-one sessions, where I assess symptoms, patterns, and goals, and then prescribe specific practices tailored to your nervous system and life context. These practices are designed to be integrated into daily life, empowering you to actively participate in your own healing. Over time, the work becomes less about fixing and more about restoring trust in your inner capacity for regulation, clarity, and connection.
No prior yoga experience is required. Each session is adapted to your body, your emotional landscape, and your current capacity. The intention is not performance, but integration – supporting real, embodied change that extends far beyond our time together.
